Tuesday, 16 March 2010 – With the slogan of the Rights to a Child in mind, National Insurance Co Bhd, the only ISO certified insurance company in Brunei Darussalam continues in assisting under privileged students in the Tutong District area.
Twelve students from Sekolah Rendah Sengkarai and Sekolah Rendah Penanjong were identified to be the recipients of the donation. The students received a school pack containing 2 sets of uniform for either male or female student, tudong, sokong, a pair of white sports shoes and a pair of black school shoes, socks and all the necessary school stationeries along with a school bag. School work books were also donated to all of the students to ensure that they are able to focus with their daily education.
The students are from family whereby either both parents are not working or from a single mother. Some of them have only recently started going to school. Even though assistance has been rendered to them to buy basic necessities monthly, it was still insufficient for them to get proper school attires and books.
As per the previous donations to Sekolah Rendah Sukang and Sekolah Melilias, money was raised during their 40th anniversary from the sales of company’s anniversary corporate merchandise and activities on that day. As promised by the General Manager, Kolja Klawunn all proceeds which were collected during that day are going to be donated back towards education in assisting some students with school fees, or purchasing school books, school uniform or shoes. National Insurance realized the right of all children to get proper education to reach their potential for the country.
The donations were presented to the students by the General Manager of National Insurance, Kolja Klawunn at Sekolah Rendah Sengkarai in Tutong. Present at the event were officers from the Department of Schools in Tutong, the principals of both schools and the parents of the students, and Dk Kemariah Pg Hj Duraman, Manager Human Resources and Administration.
National Insurance also extended a special thank you to Hj Yahya Hj Rahman from the Department of Schools for his great support in working with the company in identifying the students.
National Insurance will continue in this charitable drive in assisting students as part of their social responsible.
