Friday, 19 February 2010 – National Insurance Company Berhad today continues with their donation drive towards education.
A computer and a colour printer were donated to a rural school, Sekolah Rendah Melilas which is located in Ulu Belait. Due to the remoteness of the school a UPS (uninterrupted power source) or battery back up was also donated together with the computer.
The donation was presented to the Acting Principal Hj Mohd Shah Rizal Bin Hj Abu Bakar by the General Manager, Kolja Klawunn at National Insurance KB branch which is located at Jalan Pandan Tujoh. Also present at the event was Mohd Joaizie Bin Joebit, a senior teacher of the school.
Sekolah Rendah Melilas has only six students with three teaching staff including the principal. The computer is donated to assist the students on how best to integrate the technology into the classroom as a key role in improving and boosting education levels, as the use of IT in Brunei schools is growing.
Prior to this donation, National Insurance has also donated school packs to twelve students in Sekolah Rendah Datu Maharaja Setia Dian Sukang in Ulu Belait as reported earlier.
Money was raised from sales of company’s corporate items, and games and activities which were organized during their 40th anniversary celebration, which was held on Sunday, 17th January 2010. As promised by the General Manager, Kolja Klawunn all proceeds which were collected during that day are going to be donated back towards education in assisting some students with school fees, or purchasing school books, school uniform or shoes. National Insurance realized the right of all children to get proper education to reach their potential for the country.
